The Seasons of Childhood™

I believe that childhood unfolds in seasons.

Just like nature, children are constantly changing and evolving. They have seasons of rapid growth and seasons of quiet development. Seasons of confidence and seasons of emotional overwhelm. Seasons filled with curiosity, movement, wonder and discovery, and seasons that call for rest, reassurance, connection and deeper understanding.

No two children move through these seasons in exactly the same way.

Modern childhood can often feel rushed. There is increasing pressure for children to achieve more, earlier and faster - often overlooking the developmental foundations that children truly need in order to thrive long term.

The Seasons of Childhood™ is the philosophy that underpins all of my work at The Know & Play Space.

It is a gentle, holistic and developmentally respectful approach to childhood that recognises that play, learning, development and environments are all deeply interconnected. I want to encourage you to see your whole child for the wonderful and unique individual that they are -  understanding that every stage of development brings different needs, challenges, strengths and opportunities for growth.

At the heart of this philosophy is the belief that childhood should not be rushed, but thoughtfully understood and supported.

Through play-based learning, enabling environments, strong foundations and meaningful connection, children are given the opportunity to grow in ways that feel secure, full of joy and developmentally appropriate for them as individuals.
