Learn with Know & Play
Welcome to
Learn with Know & Play
Learning looks different for every child.
It unfolds at its own pace, in its own way, driven by curiosity, confidence and the kind of secure, trusting relationships that make children feel safe enough to take risks and try new things.
At Learn with Know & Play, every session is built around that belief. Whether your child is working on Phonics, Literacy, Mathematics or simply exploring the world around them - the starting point is always the same. Not where national guidelines say they should be. Not where other children their age are. But exactly where your child is, right now, at this stage of their own of their learning journey.

A Space for Childhood
All Learn with Know & Play sessions take place in an intentionally prepared, home-from-home environment - warm, welcoming and designed with children's development at its heart.
Based in Bishops Waltham, this is not a classroom. It is a living, breathing play space, thoughtfully set up so that children feel genuinely comfortable and safe.
iThe environment is prepared with accessibility and independence in mind. Resources are purposefully chosen, carefully presented and within reach, so that children can make their own choices, follow their own ideas and develop a real sense of autonomy over their own learning. Rather than waiting to be told what to do next, children in this space are invited to lead.
Drawing inspiration from respected early childhood approaches including Montessori, Reggio Emilia and Waldorf, the environment itself acts as a teacher - calm, ordered and rich with open-ended possibilities that grow with the child.
I use and offer an extensive collection of high quality, play-based learning resources, deliberately selected to be purposeful, engaging and developmentally appropriate. Nothing is here for the sake of it. Everything has a reason.
Outside, the learning continues. The outdoor space is set up for play, exploration and discovery, and beyond that, the local woodlands, moors and fields are an extension of where we can play & learn together.
This is a space where children feel at home, where they feel trusted, and where they flourish whilst doing some of the most important work of their childhood - learning, playing and discovering who they are.

1:1 Learning Journey Sessions
Personalised tutoring for phonics, literacy and mathematics
A Learning Journey Session is one to one tutoring with a difference.
Rather than working through a fixed programme regardless of where your child is, a Learning Journey begins with really getting to know your child - how they learn, what they find easy, what feels tricky and what lights them up.
From there, every session is built around the next genuine steps in their individual learning journey - whether that is phonics, reading, writing or mathematics.
Sessions are rooted in play-based learning, practical exploration and meaningful activity rather than worksheets and rote learning.
Learning Journeys are available for Phonics, Literacy including Reading and or Writing, and Mathematics.
Suitable for children on any Education Pathway,
including Traditional Schooling and Home Education.
Home Ed (Small Group)
Learning Journey Sessions
Home Education Learning Journeys offer the same personalised, development-led approach as our one to one sessions, but within a small group setting of 1:2 or 1:3 children.
The small group format is intentional. It gives home educated children the opportunity to learn alongside peers in a nurturing, low pressure environment - building the social aspects of learning alongside the academic ones, without the overwhelm of a large classroom setting.
As with all Learn with Know & Play sessions, the starting point is always your child - where they are right now, what they need next and how they learn best.
I welcome interest of groupings where children already have friendships, however, please note that they will need to be at a similar stage on their learning journeys to ensure they get what's best for themselves out of each session. Please do get in contact to discuss this further.
Home Education Learning Journeys are available for Phonics, Literacy and Mathematics.

Booster Groups
Targeted small group support for Year 1 and Year 2 children
Coming soon! After school booster groups for children in Year 1 and Year 2.
These small group sessions are designed to support children who would benefit from a little extra practice and consolidation in Phonics, Writing or Mathematics - plugging gaps, building confidence and making sure the foundations are solid before the next stage of learning.
Unlike our one to one Learning Journeys, booster groups focus on the key skills and knowledge of the Year 1 and Year 2 curriculum rather than being fully individualised - making them an accessible and affordable option for families looking for targeted group support.
Launching soon.

The Woodland Reader Club
'Reading Roots' Class
Is your child ready to begin their reading journey?
The Woodland Reader Club's Reading Roots class is a small group phonics class for children aged around 4 to 6, who are at the very beginning of their learning to read adventure.
Inside the Reading Roots class, children will:
-
Develop the essential listening and sound awareness skills that form the foundation of reading
-
Make those first exciting links between letters and sounds, progressing onto blending to read and segmenting to spell throughout the year
-
Build confidence and joy around reading from the very beginning
-
Learn through a magical approach of play-based learning, songs, rhymes, stories and hands-on exploration
Classes are kept intentionally small so that every child receives genuine attention and the sessions can truly follow their journeys.
