The Wondrous Acre Wood
Story World
Welcome to
The Wondrous Acre Wood
There was something wondrous about this place.
You could always feel it. You just had to stop long enough to notice.
Welcome to the story world of The Wondrous Acre Wood.
This is the world that Finn found on the first day of September, through a gap in the hedge that wasn't there yesterday. Across a golden meadow and across a stream, he finds a wood of extraordinary creatures, real natural science and a quiet sense of belonging.
Everything Finn discovers in the wood is true. Whether the wood itself is real, well...
that rather depends on whether you're the noticing kind.

Wondrous Activities
Activities linked to the weekly chapters, enriching children's development through play and learning experiences, and celebrating the natural world and seasonal changes as the year turns.
Read The Tales
Written by myself, and illustrated by the wonderful Rosie Gorman,
Tales of The Wondrous Acre Wood
follows Finn through a complete turning of the year.
From the first day of September, all the way through to the last golden days of August, every chapter is connected to what the natural world is actually doing that week.
The characters all offer beautiful models of traits we'd love our children to develop, and every piece of science woven into the stories is research-backed and true.
The stories have been carefully written to not only provide that sense of reading for pleasure when we escape into books, but to also support children's holistic learning and development.
