The Books on our Shelves - October 2026

Hello and welcome to The Books on our Shelves series for 2026! I'm heavily influenced by the seasons and the turning of the year, so the books I choose for our shelves are very much related to what's actually happening outdoors in nature right now, and offer links to the chapters from my own series - Tales of The Wondrous Acre Wood.

This month's themes:

• Apples (Chapter 5 - The Last Harvest)

• Signs of Autumn (Chapter 6- The Scavenger Hunt)

• The Wind (Chapter 7 - The Arrival of Brother Wind)

• Pumpkins (Chapter 8 - Pumpkin Homes)+44 7701 062420

We also have some of September's books in another basket by the fireplace, so that they can still be accessed and re-read, as they still link to the season, but less to the focus themes for this month. You can view September's book picks HERE.

If you have any recommendations linked to the themes above, I'd love to hear from you! Leave a comment or find me over on Instagram @theknowandplayspace.
